Short Bio
Founded in 2023 in San Diego's Normal Heights, ELEGANT TERN is a four-piece alt rock band built for the live room. Their sets swing from high-energy rock to stripped-down acoustic grooves and back, keeping crowds locked in from open to close. They've played Til-Two Club, Navajo Live, Humphrey's Backstage Live, The Holding Company, and Kensington Club, with new recordings tracked at THE FUNK HAUS.
Long Bio
ELEGANT TERN is an alt rock band born in 2023 out of Normal Heights, San Diego. Four players, four distinct voices: funk-rooted drums, melodic bass, three decades of guitar across folk, metal, and flamenco, and vocals channeling the great women of '90s alt rock. The result is a live set that doesn't sit still. High-energy rock jams break into acoustic ballads, ballads build back into full-throttle grooves, and no two nights play out the same way.
Since 2023 they've taken the stage at Til-Two Club, Navajo Live, Humphrey's Backstage Live, The Holding Company, and Kensington Club, with regular studio sessions at Normal Heights' own Funk Haus. The band takes its name from the elegant tern, a Pacific coast seabird that lives in tight-knit groups, dives headfirst into the water to feed, and seems to live every moment full-tilt. The band runs the same way.
